The Iron Throne is the seat of the ruling monarch in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and the symbol of the House of Baratheon, the ruling house in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. It was made by Varys, the Master of Whisperers, for Robert Baratheon to be crowned on after his father's death. It is said that it is made of the Valyrian steel, one of the strongest metals known to mankind, and that its power comes from the dragon bone used to make it. It is said that the Iron Throne is cursed by the Old Gods, and that any ruler who sits upon it will become the king or queen of Westeros and the other kingdoms, but the price they must pay is steep. Only a handful of rulers were able to sit on it without succumbing to its power or suffering under its curse, including the Targaryen's last dragonlord Aegon VI, the last Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, and Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen, who was the only one to successfully rule the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros as Queen of Westeros, Mother of Dragons, the Unburnt, and the Last Dragonlord.
